River division 543, along with the other river divisions in Vietnam, patrolled the rivers to interdict any enemy movement of weapons and supplies to the south. A very boring and dangerous job. Since the waterways of Vietnam served as their highways, it was very important that the rivers, canals, and tributaries be patrolled to limit the resources of the enemy.
